2013-2015-1

My #TransformationTuesday picture caused quite a stir last week. Many of you were asking about the products I am using in my hair. To state the obvious, as you can tell from the dates, these pictures are a bit old. In the span of those 2 years, I’d done many things with my hair and I’ll share some of those in the near future.

But I wanted to share with you the products I am currently using on my hair to create my extremely simplified regimen.

WASH DAY

I use Apple Cider Vinegar to cleanse my hair and scalp every 2 weeks. (1 part water, 1 part ACV)

I use V05 Conditioner afterwards, as I detangle my hair in sections under warm water, using a wide tooth comb.

I add Castor Oil to my scalp and hair when it’s damp to lock in the moisture from the water.

Lastly, I use Shea Moisture’s 10-in-1 Renewal System as my moisturizer as I most often just install medium twists.

CO-WASH DAY

FYI: Co-Wash means to wash your hair with conditioner only.

I co-wash every 2 weeks (the weeks I don’t use my Apple Cider Vinegar rinse).

Everything else remains the same as my wash day.

DEEP CONDITIONING

Same as my wash day routine, I use my ACV and V05.

Then I apply the 10-in-1 Renewal System and cover my hair with a plastic shower cap. I often let it sit for an hour or more, depending on what I’m doing that particular day.

Afterwards, I rinse my hair with cool water only to remove the majority of the product.

After that, I add my Castor Oil and style as usual.

That’s it ladies. That’s all I’ve been doing and using. If you have any questions about anything mentioned, leave it in the comment section and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

        1. It’s very rarely that I use shampoo. The cleansing conditioner from As I AM works for me. If not, I like to use my apple cider vinegar rinse.

    1. Hi Grace! You can purchase the products at your local drug stores or Wal-Mart. You can also purchase the products on Amazon.

        1. Hey!

At that time, I would do the ACV rinse one week and then the following week, I would do a cowash.

    1. Hey! Thank you.

There’s some mixture in my family history, yes. But don’t be misled, you don’t have to be mixed to be able to grow long hair.

      1. isn’t that bad to wash once or twice a week?
and then what are the usage directions for the ACV

        1. Hey! 🙂 Washing your hair once a week isn’t bad. Two times a week, is too much, if you’re using shampoo, yes. I no longer use ACV because I’m now using shampoo. If you find that washing your hair once a week is too frequent, due to the harshness of your shampoo, it could mean that you’re using the wrong type of shampoo. There are moisturizing shampoos and clarifying shampoos.

    1. Hey! I would need more information to have a better understanding of why your hair is falling out like that. This would only be an issue if your hair is shedding excessively. The average person loses about 100 strands of hair every day. Send me an email to discuss the matter, further.

  1. Hey Shaunie,

Do you ever blow dry and straighten your hair, or do you just wash, Moisturise & style?

PS. I love your natural hair and your skin looks great as well!

  2. Hello Shaunie,

I currently relocated to the US and the weather in the state is very dry, before moving I was on natural hair then I applied a relaxer, and now that I am here, my scalp is always dry so i use alot of oil, but the hair isnt growing, it sheds alot whenebver i comb or wash, my scalp hurts, and the hair is due for relaxing but i dont want to do that unless I have a good routine for hair growth. I naturally dont have that much hair so I am not expecting my hair to be as long as yours, but I just need help in figuring out a good routine to help me get healthy hair, and for some level of growth cause TBH i dont like wearing wigs, but I sometimes have to and It makes me unhappy, and the amount of hair i lose affects my mood alot.

    1. Hi love,
I’m very sorry about the late response. How are things with your hair now? Did you decide to remain natural or did you relax your hair again?

  3. Hello my hair falls out every time I comb it I’m not understanding cause I see the growth as well as broken areas and thinness but it’s growing longer please help I’m not understanding

    1. Hi Nicole! I’m very sorry to hear that. There could be various reasons for what you’re experiencing. I would need more information about your hair. What’s your hair current hair routine? When was your last trim? Did you recently have a baby? Are you taking new medication? Do you notice anything happening on your scalp?
